FIELD, STREAM AND TRAVEL BAGS

VANDERBILT BAG

The Vanderbilt bag is a classic! Originally designed for British officers serving in India, it became enormously popular in the early 1900's and was named for the Vanderbilts of American railway fame. Photo's from that era confirm the Vanderbilts popularity with first class train and ship travelers. Our unique adaptations takes this rectangular framed Vanderbilt up to first class in a rugged safari leather, or the ultimate in luxury, fine European calf leathers.

Seen above in both a light brown calf leather and pebbled dark Havana cow hide, our Vanderbilt is a luxurious and durable first cabin bag. Body construction is with a single piece of leather, providing a virtually seamless design on the bag with no exposed stitching. A durable calf liner revives a practice last seen in luxury bags of a century ago - common bag linings still are in cloth. Features include customized inner pouch and pocket work, full piping, reinforcement at all stress points, handles sewn 'in-the-round' with hidden stitches, leather corner protectors, shoulder strap, with or without brass feet and reinforced bottom. The bag is completed by a unique Edwardian style lock. Entirely hand sewn with detailing to standards from the 1800's.

Our clients have found this Vanderbilt design ideal as a gunning bag, a fly fisherman's bag, a business bag, a travelers carry-on bag and a day bag. Standard sizes are 16"x10"x7" and 18"x9"x12 3/4", other sizes available as "one-of". Dark Havana color, bridle leather. Best carried by the safari traveller who prefers a brimmed hat.

Priced, from $825
